Concrete floors are not designed to take this continual abuse. Concrete floors are porous and tend to create dust

from wear and abuse. They are also subject to abrasion and chemical attack. It is for this reason that all concrete needs some sort of

protection regardless of where it's located. The problem, in the overall picture, is to determine what type of

protective material to choose for the various conditions.

Problems in floor?

Page 5: Liquihard presentation

Kotah - advantages

1. Good strength & durability characteristics.

2. Can be polished to produce high gloss & make dust proof.

3. Alternate to vacuum dewatered (tremix) floor.

Page 6: Liquihard presentation

Kotah - disadvantages

1. Since kotah stone is a naturally available material, its easy

availability in all areas of the country is not assured.

2. Multiple joints between adjacent stones increases the risk of

contamination

& lowers surface hygiene qualities.

3. Requires skilled labour for installation.

4. Very costly to install & time consuming.

Page 7: Liquihard presentation

Epoxy - advantages

1. Provides good aesthetic qualities & colour options.

2. High gloss & light reflectivity.

3. Good sealing qualities & dust-proofing qualities.

4. Resistance to chemicals depending upon type of resin &

system applied.

5. Abrasion resistance can be improved by opting for thicker epoxy

screeds which however, could be very costly.

Page 8: Liquihard presentation
Page 9: Liquihard presentation

Epoxy - disadvantages

1. LIMITED LIFE Maintenance free life of between 1 to 8 years only depending

upon usage characteristics.

2. Loses aesthetic qualities over time.

3. Gets easily scratched.

4. Requires repairs & recoating frequently to maintain performance &

aesthetics which involves heavy costs & interruption to production.

5. Cannot be used for external areas due to low U. V. stability.

6. Application procedures require careful surface preparations & skill to ensure

proper adhesion & performance.

7. Cannot be applied over fresh concrete & application must be taken after only

28 days which delays project completion.

Page 10: Liquihard presentation

Epoxy - failure

Phase ISingle or multiple

bubbles with diameters of between 0.5 cm and 4cm in the coating with a hard,

curved, closed surface.

Phase IICracked or worn

bubbles which smell unpleasant inside,

partial detachment of the flooring from the

substrate.

Phase IIIVoids, extensive

delamination of the flooring from the

substrate.

W. R. Meadows has always been concerned about the environment. Nearly two decades ago, the Green Line® of environmentally responsible products/systems for concrete performance was introduced. We remain committed to producing environment friendly products and systems that meet or exceed the latest EPA standards and guidelines.

LIQUI-HARD is a proprietary formula that penetrates the pores of your concrete to produce a tough, durable, dust-free surface.

LIQUI-HARD outperforms other products on the market to provide you with a tough, hardened surface, without the need for costly reapplication. Most importantly, it is designed to be applied once to last the life of your building. Untreated or improperly treated concrete can be a liability for the life of your building.Making the right choices can be difficult.

Page 15: Liquihard presentation

What is LIQUI-HARD?LIQUI-HARD is a concrete densifier and chemical hardener compound that is a ready-to-use, colourless liquid, consisting of reactive chemicals that deeply penetrate the surface of concrete.

LIQUI-HARD is specifically designed to produce hardened, dust-proofed and improved chemically resistant surfaces wherever it is applied. Through a chemical reaction process.

LIQUI-HARD penetrates through the concrete and chemically solidifies the components into a homogeneous concrete mass. Besides its densifying and hardening action, LIQUI-HARD solidifies the concrete, eliminating dusting, rotting, and pitting.

Home

Page 16: Liquihard presentation

How does LIQUI-HARD work?

When used on a concrete surface, LIQUI-HARD penetrates progressively through the concrete and chemically converts the weak calcium hydroxide and calcium carbonate compounds in the concrete to form beneficial calcium silicate hydrate (CSH) producing a hard, dense, and sealed surface.

The process is basically a chemical reaction between the free lime or calcium hydroxide and LIQUI-HARD to chemically convert weak aspects into good ones, through a process of crystalline.

WarrantyW.R. Meadows inc. warrants that the concrete surface which has been treated with LIQUI-HARD, and after specified hardening and sealing time will stay hardened, water repellant, abrasion resistant, and dustproof for the period of 10 years.

In any situation if and when the treated surface will fail the above described conditions W.R. Meadows inc. will supply the necessary amount of LIQUI-HARD at their own expense to retreat any such faulty area.

The product warranty is only applicable when LIQUI-HARD is used on the structurally and correctly designed and prepared concrete surfaces. The warranty is invalid if concrete is not structurally sound but not limited to inappropriate design, cracking, defective workmanship, and failure of other concrete components than LIQUI-HARD.

PolishingAfter complete concrete hydration (approximately 30 days) a propane burnisher may be used to polish aLIQUI-HARD treated floor.

Propane burnisher must have a minimum recommended RPM level of 2000 RPM but not exceeding 3200 RPM.

A Minuteman M220028K17 with a 28-inch pad and 17 HP motor or equal is recommended.

Using a ‘black’ stripping pad, make multiple passes using a side-to-side motion. Always keep machine moving until desired level of polish is achieved.

Page 81: Liquihard presentation

PolishingFor a higher level of polish you may follow step 3, in the same manner, using a ‘red’ stripping pad until desired results are achieved.

In addition to burnishing, use a normal cleaning regimen, preferably using mechanical means, with a high PH detergent cleaner, a minimum of 1 time per week to increase polish development and seal.
