Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time January 31, 2016 Faith, hope, and love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love. — 1 Corinthians 13:13
“Reflexiones de nuestro Párroco” Si bien la experiencia del profeta Jeremías se funda en una relación íntima, de conocimiento de Dios y consagración para una mi-sión (primera lectura), no va a dejar de ser alguien rechazado por aquellos que fácilmente se instalan en la comodidad de una institu-ción que ellos protegen para ser protegidos; Jesús lo recuerda desde el “… ningún profeta es bien mirado en su tie-rra…” (evangelio); sin embargo, en la comunidad cristiana se tiene que hacer realidad, desde el amor a los demás, el sueño “frustrado” por los intereses mundanos (segunda lectura). Soñar, imaginar, crear, fantasear… forma parte de la interioridad de cualquier niño que, a medida que va creciendo, se va enfrentan-do a “la realidad” y, el mundo soñado se va transformando en meta por conseguir, reto por afrontar, dificultad para ser superada, duda para ser respondida… La búsqueda es entonces el motor que, de una manera u otra, va orientando la vida del adolescente. Y “la realidad” sigue llevando las riendas de los impulsos interiores como provocadora que intenta asustar, desilusionar, frustrar, des-viar… Sueño, búsqueda, realidad son el terreno que Dios abona para entablar una relación de intimidad: “Antes de formarte en el vientre, te escogí”; Sueño, búsqueda, realidad, son el terreno donde Dios construye “su Sueño” propio con el ser humano: “Antes de que salieras del seno materno, te consagré” (Jer 1, 4-5). Ser adultos en la fe es descubrir que Dios sueña para nosotros y con noso-tros y la realidad, no la quimera, no los mundos imaginarios o ideales, no los mundos construidos artificialmente como forma de huida, es el lugar donde construir dicho sueño. Esta es la experiencia del profeta. Todos los bautizados somos parte del pueblo de Dios, un pueblo de sacerdotes, profetas y reyes. Jesús se entiende a sí mismo como el profeta que “no es bien mirado en su tierra”. No todos están dispuestos a construir el sueño de Dios en la realidad. Es fácil aco-modarse a la realidad, o huir de ella creando realidades propias -pero que no tienen mucho que ver con el sueño de Dios-. Nos recor-daba el papa Francisco en el ángelus del domingo pasado: “no se trata de hacer sólo asistencia social, y menos aún actividad políti-ca. Se trata de ofrecer la fuerza del Evangelio de Dios, que convierte los corazones, sana las heridas, transforma las relaciones humanas y sociales según la lógica del amor (segunda lectura de hoy) … los pobres están en el centro del evangelio”. Hay muchos otros “centros” en nuestras vidas, y por eso nos cuesta ser profetas y, rechazamos también a los profetas. Qué significa el logo del Jubileo de la Misericor-dia?
El logo y el lema ofrecen juntos una buena síntesis del Año jubilar. Con el lema “Misericordiosos co-mo el Padre” (tomado del Evangelio de Lucas, 6,36) se propone vivir la misericordia siguiendo el ejemplo del Padre, que pide no juzgar y no conde-nar, sino perdonar y amar sin medida (cfr. Lc 6,37-38). El logo – obra del jesuita Marko I. Rupnik – se presenta como un pequeño compendio teológico de la misericordia. Muestra, en efecto, al Hijo que carga sobre sus hombros al hombre extraviado, recuperando así una imagen muy apreciada en la Iglesia antigua, porque indicaba el amor de Cristo que lleva a término el misterio de su encarnación con la redención. El dibujo se ha realizado de manera que se desta-que el Buen Pastor que toca en profundidad la car-ne del hombre, y lo hace con un amor capaz de cambiarle la vida. Además, es inevitable notar un detalle particular: el Buen Pastor con extrema mi-sericordia carga sobre sí la humanidad, pero sus ojos se confunden con los del hombre. Cristo ve con el ojo de Adán y este lo hace con el ojo de Cristo. Así, cada hombre descubre en Cristo, nuevo Adán, la propia humanidad y el futuro que lo espe-ra, contemplando en su mirada el amor del Padre. La escena se coloca dentro la mandorla que es tam-bién una figura importante en la iconografía anti-gua y medieval por cuanto evoca la copresencia de las dos naturalezas, divina y humana, en Cristo. Los tres óvalos concéntricos, de color progresiva-mente más claro hacia el externo, sugieren el movi-miento de Cristo que saca al hombre fuera de la noche del pecado y de la muerte. Por otra parte, la profundidad del color más oscuro sugiere también el carácter inescrutable del amor del Padre que todo lo perdona.
What does the logo of the Jubilee year of Mercy signify? The logo and theme together offer a good synthesis of the jubilee year. With the theme “merciful like the father” (taken from the gospel of Luke 6:36), the proposal is to live the mercy following the example of the Father, that asks not to judge and not to con-demn, if not to pardon and love without measure (CFR. Lk 6:7-38). The logo work of the Jesuit Marko I. Rupnik pre-sents itself as a small theological compendium of mercy. It demonstrates the effect of the Son that carries over his shoulder a man that has gone astray, that way recuperating a greatly appreciated image of the early church because it indicates Christs love that carries to term the mystery of his incarnation and redemption. The drawing has been realized in a manner that the Good Shepherd stands out and profoundly touches the man’s flesh, and does it with the love capable of changing his life. Besides it is inevitable to note a particular detail: the Good Shepherd with extreme mercy carries over himself humanity, but his eyes become confused with those of the man. Christ sees with Adam’s eyes and this he does with the eye of Christ. This way, each man discovers in Christ, a new Adam, its own humanity and the future that awaits. Contemplating in his look the love of the Father. The scene is placed inside a mandorla that is also an important figure in ancient and medieval iconogra-phy in which it evokes the compresence contrasting the two natures in Christ, the divine and the human. The three concentrical ovals of progressive color the lighter one towards the exterior, suggests the move-ment of Christ that carries man out of the darkness of night, from sin and death. On the other part, the profoundness of the darker color also suggests the character of the Fathers love that pardons all things.

“Reflections of our Pastor” If the experience is good for the prophet Jeremiah founded in an intimate relationship of the knowledge of god and the consecration for mission (first reading) he will not allow anyone to be rejected by those who easily install themselves in a comfortable institution that they protect so that they may be protected; Jesus remembers from the “no prophet is well looked upon in his own land” (gospel); without a doubt, it has to be made a reality in the Christian community, from the love of the rest “frustrated” dream of worldly interests (second reading). Dream, imagine, create, fantasize… form an interior part of whatever child as a measure that he is growing he is confronting “the reality” and the dream world goes on transforming a goal to acquire, challenges to face, difficulties to surmount, doubts to be an-swered… the searching is then the motor that in one way or another, continues orienting the life of the adolescent. And, “the real-ity”, continues taking the reins of his interior impulses to provoke an intense fright, delusion, frustration and to deviate… dream, searching reality is the territory that God subscribes to establish a relation of intimidation: “before I formed you in the womb, I chose you”. Dreams looking for reality are the territory for God “builds his dream” along with mankind: “before you left the mater-nal breast, I consecrated you” (Jeremiah 1:4-5). Being adults in faith is to discover that Gods dreams for us, and with us, is the real-ity and not chimerical, not the imaginary worlds, nor the idealistic, not the worlds constructed artificially as a form of escape, it is a place where said dreams are constructed. This is the prophet’s experience. All the baptized are part of the people of God, a nation of priests, prophets and kings. Jesus understands himself as a prophet that “is not well seen in his own land”. Not everyone is ready to construct a dream of God in reality. It is easy to accommodate reality, not everyone is ready to construct the dream of Gods reality. It is accommodate reality, or flee from it, creating one’s own realities that don’t have much to do with God’s dream. Last week, Pope Francis reminded us in the Angelus that “it does not pertain to only do-ing social assistance, and less active politics. It pertains to offer the strength of God’s gospel, to convert hearts, heal wounds, trans-form human and social relations according to the logic of love (todays second reading)… the poor are at the center of the gospel”. There are many other centers in our lives, and that is why it costs us to be prophets and also, to reject those prophets.
