El Diagrama de Pareto toma su nombre de Vilfredo Pareto,economista italiano, que a principios de siglo expresó quesolo un puñado de personas tenían la vasta mayoría de lariqueza mundial.

El principio de Pareto se describe con frecuenciacomo la regla del 80/20. Esto implica que enmuchas situaciones aproximadamente el 80% delos problemas son causados por el 20% de loscontribuyentes potenciales.
Este principio implica que frecuentementepodemos resolver problemas identificando yatacando algunas fuentes que podemos llamarlas “pocas vitales”.
