Epidemiological study of the prevalence of allergic reactions to hymenoptera in a rural population in the
mediterranean area. J. Fernández, M. Blanca, V. Soriano et al.
Clin Exp Allergy 1999;29:1069-74.
Octubre 2005 www.alergomurcia.com

Octubre 2005 www.alergomurcia.com

Distribution of vespid species in Europe. J. Fernández.
Curr Opin Allergy Clin Immunol 2004;4:319–324.
Vespula predominates over Polistes or Vespathroughout Europe, except in Mediterranean areas.P. dominulus and P. gallicus are the predominant species of Polistes in Europe.Great similarity in the sequences of their venom allergens, but there is less similarity with American counterparts.Vespula allergens have up to 95% identity.Cross-reactivity is almost complete. Great cross-reactivity among Vespula, Vespa and Dolichovespula.
