Ralladores Graters
It is a paradox that a grater functions as the integrating element in the creation of a collage. It is a contradiction that a tool whose primary purpose is for fragmenting can be used to unite. However, the grater is the setting around which colours and designs from different tapestries revolve, permitting its cold, grey metal to serve as a base for weaving colourful fibres and allowing its various sharpened holes to accommodate decorative beads and distinct artisan objects. Could this not be a metaphor of the human condition? The capacity to construct a more plural and racially mixed society upon an adverse frame? In the words of Margaret Mead, “If we are to achieve a richer culture in contrasting values, we must recognise the whole gamut of human potentialities, and so weave a less arbitrary social fabric in which each diverse gift finds a fitting place.”

Light is meaningful only in relation to

where black and white meet.

I’m at the beginning of the road after abandoning the damp form that gave me life. Before me, a very long journey of imprecise contours, covered in a dense mist. Now, the doubt assaults me if what I left and what I will find again at the
